Been reading Robbie Williams biography at the moment and I've been so struck by his 'otherness'. I think itÌs probably easy to create a more out there self when you are famous and people feel the need to keep you appeased. The juxtaposition between his stage self and his other self are startling! When he is on stage it appears that he is the self that he wishes he could be but then the second he steps off a welter of insecurities swarm him like some biblical locust plague. I'm not sure whether the fact that he doesn't seem to attempt to hide who he really is off stage is by design or default (he just doesn't know where to begin). What I do know is that he is in a better place than most of us. I am amazed how much I am drawn to this guyÌs life, and I know I not alone. His magnetism as a performer and as an individual is wrapped up closely in his ability to be honest and real about himself and his insecurities. Perhaps his game is just so elaborate he has duped me too.

I am also interested at how many would call him paranoid. How dare we... he has the eyes of millions on him and the opinions of hordes of people wearing on him the whole time and yet he seems to maintain a pretty open and honest picture of himself. We have so few who really watch us and yet most of us play a myriad games every single day protecting ourselves and creating false selves to please the multitude who aren't even looking at us! Who are the paranoid ones? How much of yourself (your true self) are you really in a day? His honest should shame most Christians because he is willing to tell the truth about life and himself... and yet we have become so good at playing the political games of our times that we have replaced the concept of the 'truth' with 'what we think we should say'. I wouldn't worry Christian... you will watch this man and have so much to say about his bad language and bad habits that you will miss the point altogether... its all part of the psychological armor you have in place to blind you from the truth and keep you safe in your lie!
